Rotary Tool 3-in-1 Workstation

Post by Suso » Mon Oct 14, 2019 4:42 pm

New project! A 3-in-1 workstation for use with rotary tools.
This is the SketchUp 3D model where you can see a small drill press. By turning it, it becomes a mini-lathe and by turning it again, it becomes a router table.
It will be very useful for small operations, in my case it will come in handy for luthier jobs!

Testing the rotary tool workstation lift system. I've used aluminum square tube and a 3D printer spindle screw. It works fine!

I've tried my new rotary tool workstation making a new truss rod cover for one of the guitars I made years ago.
I used motherpearl to make the inlay.

Here a short video where I show you how I made this truss rod cover for my guitar using the rotary tool workstation. You'll find the full video on my youtube channel!

and one more video where I show you the rotary tool workstation's lathe function. I made a bridge pin for an acoustic guitar. This is the piece that holds the guitar strings against the bridge. Full Article:

Rotary Tool Workstation

Post by Caterpillar » Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:49 pm

Hi I am in the process of building this. I have managed to machine all the parts on my CNC. I have got to the assembly stage and I'm a little puzzled on PARTS 6. Are they screwed to PART 1 or to PART 3. Or do I glue them to part 3. Nothing on the plans shows fixings for these.

hi mate,
those pieces n.6 must be screwed to both pieces n.1 and n.3.
Please send me some pictures when you finish the Workstation!
