A 2-in-1 marking gauge and beam compass recycling an old Plotter Blade Holder and a few scrap wood.

Suso,

Thank you. your video inspired me to make one myself. I have no table saw, band saw, or scroll saw, and yet I am quite pleased with the results. I used Japanese Cherry (sakura) and Burma Padauk (karin).
I made two inserts; one with a sharpened wood screw, and one with a small knife blade. Do you think the screw will be durable enough, or should it be tempered/hardened?

Wow Murray! the finished look is awesome and the Padauk is so beautiful. Is not necessary tempered the screw if you use to mark wood, and always you can sharpen again.
