From 3D Router to CNC

I am very interested in doing something similar. However I have a couple of questions:

• Can it still be used in manual mode or is it full-time CNC?

• What Software Do you use for creating plans and controlling the machine?

I am more than willing to contribute whatever expertise I have:

• I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering,

• I first came across Numerical Control Machines in the aerospace industry when I left University in 1966.

• I now have 50 years experience in Computer Systems Design and programming.
