Cheapest T-Track I could find...

This is a lot cheaper than the INCRA system and M8 screws fit beautifully into the T-Track:

I am not sure what to use as a counterpart (underneath the sled). But I hope to find an 8mm rod maybe?

You're right, as a counterpart you can use an aluminum square rod.
