DIY Table Saw Sled

Post by Suso » Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:00 pm

Today I've started making the table saw sled that I'll use with the bench table saw and my new mobile workbench. I'm going to try to install two replaceable inserts that can be adjusted to the thickness of the saw blade we'll be using.

First steps to make my new table saw sled. I've used trailer floor plywood for the base of the sled and the same aluminum profile that I used in the sliding carriage.

Work in progress! I've changed the original design a little and I'm going to place another replaceable insert in the aluminum profile fence at the exit point of the cut. It will allow me to swap the insert to use discs with more or less thickness.

Adjusting the inserts of my new table saw sled to the thickness of the blade. Now it's time to make some cuts to see how they work!

A short video to show you how to adjust the inserts in my new table saw sled. Once adjusted, cutting barely causes any splintering, not even in a material as sensitive as a chipboard with melamine!

Just posted on Youtube the seventh video where I'll show you how to build the table saw sled with adjustable zero clearance that I'll be using with my new mobile workbench with a bench table saw.

I've edited this short video to show off some of the possibilities offered by T-track profiles and clamps to make several kinds of cuts along with my new table saw sled. Full video on my Youtube channel 🔥🔥

Just like with the sliding carriage, with the table saw sled I can also use an attachment so that I can extend the miter track stop and cut larger workpieces. This attachment is reversible and can be used both on the left and on the right of the profile fence. I can also use the larger one I made some days ago for the sliding carriage.
