Woodworking Drill Bits

Post by jrgallagher » Wed Oct 19, 2022 11:12 pm

The woodworking drill bits used in the mobile table saw work bench and router table look unusual, but seem to perform very well. What manufacturer are they?

Hi Paolo! I leave in Brazil and just acquired the project for my home workshop.

In the cutting plans there are 9mm soft plywood pieces... the problem is: we don't have 9mm here... just 10mm.

The pieces are: 39, DR9 and DR7 (x6)

Questions:
1. Can I go ahead and use 10mm?
2. How do I discover where those pieces are used in the project? Just based on the measurements?

Thanks
Rodolpho

hi rodolpho,

You won't have any problem using 10mm board. DR7 pieces are the bottoms of the drawers. You will simply have to make the recess for the bottoms of the drawers in the parts with reference 12 a little larger.

You can see the location of all the pieces in the PDF called "Reference Number" that you will find following this route:

Mobile Workbench Plans\Mobile Workbench\Cutting List - Fasteners\Cutting List

Hi

I have done the frame and now I'm starting with bench tops. I'm about to order Miter channel and T-tracks but I'm a little bit lost about the T-tracks. Wich ones should I order?

Best regards

Hi Suso!

I embarrassingly got pretty far into this project before realizing my table saw is the dewalt 7485 rather than the larger 10 inch saw. The major problem I’m seeing is that my fence rack and pinion hits the front and back edges of the table because the rip depth is about 6 inches less on my saw.

Image

Do you recommend modifying the table by:
1) knocking the face off and trimming the cabinets by 6 inches;
2) trying to raise the saw and cut grooves into the surfaces of the HPL;
3) installing a custom fence;
4) just upgrading to a 10 inch saw?

Thanks so much for the help. The table is looking amazing otherwise!

hi mate!
I will tell you my tips in order of preference:

1) Buy the other 10 inch saw, DWE 7492QS
2) Installing a custom fence
3) Make the same modification as this user:

I have the 7485, too.
1) How did you proceed?
2) Is it possible to convert the plan? Do I have to choose the 7485 as option, before buying the plans?

Thanks for any feedback

@suso, what is piece 40 used for? the one attached to the back of the workbench. I can't see you using it on any videos.
