Hi there
I have NO sources for 12mm x 12mm x 1mm steel of any kind near me.
The SMALLEST stuff I can find is 20x20x3mm.
I can however find 12mm x 12mm x 1.4mm in Aluminium; but as you mentioned, this isn't ideal as it wears out.
But if I have no other option... how fast does it wear out? How vital is it that it is steel?
Thanks in advance.

I'm from New Zealand; which is quite remote and shipping isn't really an option for me.
I have read that particular forum post. Thanks :)

I have the plans and am assembling hardware. Am in the US. Aluminum is available at Home Depot.
I have made steel L Profile from Drywall edge metal. The one I used is J metal without hole. I trimmed it to 12 mm with an abrasive metal blade with an angle grinder mounted under a table. The material comes in 8 foot lengths. Cut them to a shorter length. Set a fence and carefully run it through. Perfect result. Benefit, It is galvanized metal and very lower cost.. I will use construction adhesive to glue the metal to the rails.
Another option would be to use galvanized roof trim and bend the 90 degrees.

Hi Nello and welcome to the forum.
That sounds amazing, do you have any images? I'd love to see it!

Paoson.
I will try to get images up, if I can figure out how to do it. I do not see anything for attaching images.
The material is Edge Bead Metal for plasterboard. It is a J profile. I bought for 15mm then cut it to 12mm the thickness is .6mm.

Ok, I now understand, is a good choice ... to upload photos, first you must upload them to a server and then share, you can also send them to us at this email: info@paoson.com

I'm planing to build your great 3d-router too. 12x12x1 L-Steel Perfil is out of stock, but there is 10x10x1. If is possible to take this?
Thanks from Cologne/Germany
