I am in the process of gathering materials for the 3D router. I'm having trouble locating the #23 metric spring. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I don't know how these things work in your country, maybe you should find something similar in what we call in Spain "tiendas de repuestos industriales", I guess in english it could be something like "Industry replacements" or even some automotive replacement shop.

At this shop I think you can find it or at least ask for something similar:

This are the dimenssions of the one I'm using:

Lt - 175mm
Lp - 140mm
De - 22mm
h - 2.5mm

That is the current one you are using in your 3D router? Does it work well? Does it have a good feel to it? I found one at a hardware store that is 4mm bigger round than the dimensions in the plans.

Hi Steve,

mine is working well. What do you mean with 4mm bigger, bigger than what? If you already have one, give it a try. You'll know if it is ok If you don't need to apply a big pressure when you go down and it go up alone when you release it. This will make it easier to handle the 3d follower when you operate it from the back.

Hi,
It's more difficult that I thought to find that spring, the closest one I was able to find has the following specs:

Lt: 175 mm
De: 20 mm
h: 2 mm

Do you think It can work?
Regards,
Michele

you should try, perhaps not hold the total weight. The diameter of the metal bar should be at least 2.5mm.
