New Jointer Tilting Fence

Post by Suso » Mon Sep 10, 2018 2:42 pm

New tilting fence for my cheap jointer-planer combo that I've been modeling on SketchUp and I'm going to start today.

The biggest problem of this cheap tool is the fence. Not only is it highly unstable, it's locked in place and can't be moved around the work table which means I always use the same part of the knifes. I hope it works!

I've finished the tilting fence for my cheap jointer-planer combo. It seems to be working fine!
In a few days I'll upload the plans to my website.

Did you seal or treat the wood after building the fence?

hello!
First I sand all the pieces with P120 grit sandpaper, especially the edges. Then I apply a coat of satin water base varnish. I re-sand with P320 sandpaper and apply a final coat of the same varnish.
