After using my scroll saw for a few months I noticed that its blade holding system is not very efficient.

Since we have to attach and detach the blade very often, a lot of time is wasted.

So I’ve decided to build a new system based on the one I had used for my coping saw, which turned out to be quite effective and easy to make.

For that, I will use this piece of HPL, very tough and sturdy.

The first step is to remove the old holder.

Using a table saw, we make a groove for the washers and the blade. It must be a tight fit so that the washers don’t twist when tightening the wing nut and the system remains effective.

We cut and drill all the necessary holes with the column drill.

We attach the washers and the screw.

Now we attach the new holding system to the scroll saw. I’m going to insert the blade in the jigsaw and now I will try the new holder. Well, look at that, it’s much easier to use than the old one.

Finally, all that’s left is to check whether the blade is perfectly aligned. If that’s not the case, we can make adjustments using the screws on the upper arm.

and then check if it’s cutting correctly. Works great!
