Today I am gonna make an adjustable routing template for use with my homemade plunge router base. There are a lot of models you can buy, most of them made of aluminum, but they are not what we can call cheap, so I am gonna make my own.

As always, you can find the plans on my shop.

There are a lot of sizes of T-Slot router bit you can use but don’t worry if you don’t have one, I am gonna show you an alternative method to make it gluing 2 9mm pieces of plywood.

Make now the slot with the same depth as the bolt head in a table saw.

Insert a couple of screws before applying the glue to mark the exact position and avoid it from moving later.

Once it is dry we can keep on finishing the T-slot.

I am gonna use here this half moon nuts to join the four parts. They are easy to find in hardware stores, but you can also make your own using wood.

Make this drill to insert the clamping bolt and assemble it all.

Now I am gonna make the guide bush, adjust it and fit it in place using a couple of screws.

To make a hole for the pipe on its exact position I’ll use a router bit with the same diameter. The pipe must be two millimeters bigger than the the router bit we are planning to use on it, and we can make as many guide bushes as needed.

We are gonna try it now. Remember to always wait for the router to completely stops before taking it out.

We can also use the adjustable template without the guide bush.
